None of the sex scenes swept me away, and I found myself skimming most of them just to get back to the main story. That isn't something I have explored much yet! Oddly enough.I didn't find this one very steamy. #Tara sivec at the stroke of midnight vk series#This series was recommended for the Enemies to Lovers dynamic, and it's fun that this started out with more of a bodyguard to lovers dynamic. So I was a bit surprised Armentrout spent so much time running through Poppy's thoughts about it, I just didn't need it spelled out for me when I already saw it all coming as it happened. The identity twist at the end was very predictable, and I saw it ages ago. I liked Poppy a lot, especially that she has a good reason to be violent. In some ways, the whole walled city thing with a terrible danger outside reminded me of Attack on Titan, haha. #Tara sivec at the stroke of midnight vk plus#I enjoyed the world Armentrout created here, plus the different take on vampires, werewolves, and religion. CW for discussion of rape and an almost miscarriageįrom Blood And Ash by Jennifer Armentrout - 4.5/5 stars- MF Fantasy - I liked this one a lot! I've been hungry for a romance book with above average writing, and I'm happy to say I wasn't "correcting" sentences in my head as I read this one. It particularly connects with a Court of Frost and Starlight, which is almost like a prologue for it. FYI: this book would be much easier to understand if you read the previous books. But it’s still worth the investment of time, IMO. Likewise, the ending felt a little rushed. I do think parts of the book drag a bit, especially at the beginning. And I LOVE that the series switched to third-person POV. I also feel like the larger plot is moving along, with allegiances shifting and enemies joining forces. It was especially nice how the book displayed the importance of female friendship. And I enjoyed seeing the other characters again. The fantasy stuff is really fun, with exciting fights and monsters. Then she can learn to love Cassian, our hero. Nesta is emotionally troubled and the major plot is her learning to love herself. It’s a little darker than the other books, in terms of the characterizations. It is over 700 pages, so it’s a commitment to read, but it’s a good addition to the series. Also she needs to find some magical doodads.- I liked this book. Fantasy romance, M/F **4 Stars**- Nesta, the sister of the heroine from the first books, will need the help of her friends and to believe in herself, if she is going to embrace her power and embrace love.
